What age are the ‘Little Shoes’ for?

This is a difficult question as no babies are the same – up to around 6 to 8 months – if you have a whooper of a baby then less, if your baby is small, then longer. Please be aware that once your baby starts to walk, we recommend you don’t use these as they may slip (a bit like walking in your socks!)

What ages are the Mittens and Hats for?

Mittens – Small - is up to and including age 3; Large – four and over

Hats – Small - up to and including age 2; Large – 3 and over

Why Merino Wool?

Merino is renowned for being the very best soft wool, therefore it is perfect for our little ones.

It has many qualities – superior breathability, temperature regulation, moisture control, and inherent anti-microbial properties – it is even naturally fire retardant.

Unlike "traditional" wool, merino is much finer, softer, and, best of all, itch-free for all but those with severe sensitivities or lanolin allergies.

Merino wool adapts to apparently being suitable all year around, keeping your child warm when it is cold and cooler when it’s warmer!

It beats cotton and polyester, for all these reasons, hands down. It is also natural and renewable.

What does CE mean?

All our products are the highest quality and the Fun Packs are CE registered.

CE stands for Conformité Européenne, which is French for "European Conformity." A product in one of the controlled product categories cannot legally be sold in the EU unless it has passed the tests to receive the CE marking.

How safe are the Fun Packs?

All the Fun Packs characters have been manufactured and tested to the highest level, every little bit, even down to every colour of thread! We are not willing to take any risks being well aware that when you hand one to a baby, the first thing it will do is put it in its mouth. All our products have passed EN71 and are CE registered.

Why do we have to order online?

Little Nitwits is a new and small business and we thought this was probably the best way to start out.

Do you sell in shops?

Not yet…. but you never know. We haven’t done so far because we want to keep the prices down and the quality high. We also want to give you the best standard of customer service we can manage!

Why can’t we ring you?

Sorry about this, it is nothing personal….. just that we are a small business and think it is better to spend our time making sure we are constantly working on new lines, the orders are on time and as near to perfect as we can get them. If you have a query, please email us and if you give us your phone number, we’ll happily call you and discuss the issue with you if we can’t answer it online.

Where can we buy the products face-to-face?

Little Nitwits is new this year. However we will be various Shows and Fairs and hope to do a lot more. This November, we are at Spirit of Christmas at Olympia and Country Living Christmas Fair in Islington Business Design Center – perfect for Christmas presents – we really hope to see you there!

Are you going to make further Fun Packs? My grandson Wilbur loves…..

We are always planning new products and of course Fun Packs! We would love to hear your suggestions so please do tell us if your child has a particular favourite toy, animal or character.

How do the ‘Merry Little Christmas’ Fun Packs double up as Christmas decorations?

We are aware that although Christmas seems to be marketed for about half the year, this Fun Pack will only have a seasonal appeal to the little wearer! So we’ve added a smart red ribbon to the back so that they can be hung on the tree for years to come….

Can we buy the Fun Pack Characters individually?

Sorry but no. It may seem like a lot of money £10 but each character is only £2.50. What can you buy for £2.50 these days?! Fun Pack Friends work brilliantly as incentives and are ideal for holding onto for this – do well in your spelling test and get the Bunny, go to bed on time for a week and get the Plucky Pirate!

What do I do if I’ve accidentally put a Little Nitwits garment in a hotter wash or put it in the tumble dryer?

Don’t worry too much. Statistically we are all going to shrink something we love in the wash at some point….. very annoying but true. Having already done this, I suggest the best solution is to give it to your little one for their Ken or Barbie, (if you’ve got the money order a new one) and have a glass of wine yourself that night as a treat!

Please note, if you send the shrunken item to us, we sadly can’t fix it and won’t be able to return it without charging you posting and packaging…. Sorry. We’ve had all our products tested 10000000000000000000000 of times to make sure this won’t happen on a 30 degree wash.

What do we do about moths?

Apparently poly bags stop moths so put your Little Nitwits in one when not in use – lavender and even conkers are supposed to be a good deterrent as well.

Why should we spin the wool at no more than 600 revs per minute?

Wool releases water much easier than cotton so if you spin it too fast, you may well up with a jumper that fits you!

What is the best way to dry your ‘Little Nitwits’ garment?

A banister, as simple as that or a clothes horse – you’ll be surprised how quickly it dries.

What do I do if the Little Nitwits garment pills or bobbles and is not looking its best?

All wool will pill to a certain degree, please pluck or carefully shave off or, best of all, use one of those clever little de-fuzzing combs (available from all good department stores) if it does happen.

This is generally only a temporary condition – once your Little Nitwits garment has stopped releasing the shorter fibres that cause the pilling, the higher twisted fibres will remain and the pilling will cease. Machine washing actually speeds up the process of releasing the shorter fibres, so the few bobbles will be a thing of the past within no time (another reason not to do time-consuming handwashing - hurray!).

What do I do if the Little Nitwits garment gets pulled and there is a big loop of wool?

All our clothes are tightly knitted to try and guard against loose pulls but these are for children (!) and you may well need to get a needle out and pull it through to the back if it does happen….. out of sight, out of mind….

How to care for your Fun Pack Friends?

Ideally wipe them. If they are really grubby, you can machine wash them separately on a 30° Delicate Wash. However, they will only cope with about 6 machine washes in their lives and still look their best (after that they will start to pill) – we sadly cannot take responsibility for damage caused by this. Dry Flat. Do not tumble dry.

Why are the gift boxes this size?

We have tried to design gift boxes to fit through the average letter box and we understand how frustrating it is to have to sign for or collect your package on the weekend. However, we cannot help it if your post box is too small for the package. Please also remember that if you order a special delivery for next day, there will need to be someone in to sign for it.

Why can we not send them directly to overseas clients?

Sorry about this, due to international legal issues it is better to get them sent to a friend in the UK and then they can send them onto you. We hope soon to be able to offer this facility and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

What to do if we’ve made a mistake?

However much we’d love to say this will never happen……..but however hard we try, we are only human and it will. All we can say please tell us asap and then we will say sorry, sorry, sorry, put it right as quickly and efficiently as possible and beg for forgiveness!
